Kevin Wallaces Silver Shadow Z

In late 2000 I discovered and started showcasing  Kevin Wallace’s one-of-a-kind customized body 240Z in the early days of my ZPARTS.COM website coming online.  Through my customer base I was able to quickly locate the owner of this car that I had only a postage stamp photo of initially.

Owner Kevin and his photographer girlfriend quickly offered to work with me on showcasing the car and set about to taking new, high quality photos of the car per my guidance.  Featured here is just one of many great shots taken on a 2nd shoot at a gravel quarry.  Come back later and I will have more for your viewing pleasure plus a bit of background history and tech spec write up to go with all of them.

1971 Datsun 240Z

Modified street/racer roadster

General Data: curb weight 2190#’s dry, weight distribution with driver: f/r% 49/51

 Engine: Edelbrock 600cfm carb, Wieland dualplane intake, Edelbrock aluminum heads, 268 Comp street cam with roller tip rockers, 302 Ford balanced lowel’ end, windage tray, BBK 1 5/8 ceramic coated shorty headers, Cratie spark box and rex, limiter, 3 quart Accusump system.

 Drivetrain: Tilton 1 7/8 master clutch cylinder, 240 Z slave cylinder, Centeforce 1 clutch, Borgwarner T5 transmission, 3.54 R200 limited slip differential.

 Suspension: Morrison 12″ x 160//- 250//variable rate springs front and rear adjustable spring perches, front and rear shortened shock towers, Tokico adjustable shocks, BZ1073 front BZ1093 rear, 1″ front, 7/8 rear anti-sway bars with urethane bushings, front bump-steer spacers, modified rear A-arms, front and rear camber adjustment bushings.

Brakes: 300 ZX master cylinder, stainless brake lines, Nismo 4 piston caliper on 11″ vented disc front brakes, 280 ZX rear disc brakes, Carbotech street/autocross brake pads.

Steering: 10″ steeling wheel, ABS steerirg coupler, solid rack buslhings, quick steerbig knuckles. Wheels and tires: 10 x 15″ front, 12.5 x 15″ rear Renal 3 piece race wheels, AVS Intenmediate 285/45 front, 345/35 rear tires. Autoxing wheels, 10 x 16″ with 10.5″ slicks front and 12 x 16″ with13″ slicks rear.

Instrumentation: VDO Comp gauges, 160 mph speedometer, 9000rm tachometer, oil and fuel pressure, water and oil temperature, vacuum pressure, amp and volt meters, cyberdine air/fuel mixture gauge.

 Unit body construction has been extensively reinforced with triangulated tube bracing   The body fabrication has been   done in sheet metal.  The height is 42″ and ground clearance is 3 1/2″ via aluminum skid pads. The car is driven daily and autocrossed on the weekends.
